Driving Licence Requirements for Towing
When did you pass you driving test? If it was before 1997 and you have no other restrictions on your license, you are permitted to tow any legally matched car and caravan without a problem. If it was 1997 or later read on.
Licences issued in 1997 or later do not have the same entitlement for towing trailers as licenses issued previously.
To work out whether your car and caravan combination requires an extra driving test fill out the boxes below. Only full (not provisional) licence holders may tow a caravan.

No extra qualification is required:
If C is equal to or less than 750kg and C+B is equal to or less than 4250kg
Or
If C is more than 750kg but less than A and C+B is equal to or less than 3500kg
B+E licence is needed:
If C is more than A
Or
If B+C is more than 4250kg
